How to Host a Cookout Without Cooking

Backyard BBQ

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I don't like cooking for crowds. You won't find a lot of recipes on this blog for that exact reason. I don't hate cooking in general but I do hate cooking for parties or gatherings. I like to focus on the details, making everything look clean and pretty and then I want to enjoy the time too! And cooking doesn't really allow for that. So my favorite party secret is using Grubhub. You can visit their website and order food from as many local restaurants as you want and choose your delivery date and time. So I order in advance, schedule the food to arrive shortly after my guests and then everyone enjoys delicious, hot, fresh food. And there is NO stress on the hostess. I also love the option of selecting several restaurants for a variety of food options which is fun for the guests. I had a little blogger party recently and that is exactly what we did and everyone loved it. We dubbed it the "uncookout". I definitely recommend you give it a try, you will enjoy your party so much more, and isn't that really what it's all about?

Now on to some party details. First things first, the invitation designed by CardMint was perfection. I asked her to design something boho with cacti and a very fast turnaround and she had delivered the perfect invitation to my inbox within 24 hours. She's so talented and her designs are gorgeous! I first discovered her on instagram.

Then on party day, as always, when the guests arrived the first thing they saw was my entrance table and a sign welcoming them. And then directly next to that is the bar cart so they can easily grab a drink on their way in. They party was indoor/outdoor to allow my guests to escape the heat when they wanted. I have a "Florida room" which opens directly to the pool and the backyard so it's perfect for this purpose. I actually ordered so much food that I had enough to have some inside and outside so guests could nibble wherever they were which turned out great.
