Gingerbread House Making Party

Making gingerbread houses has been a favorite little family activity that we've been doing more than once a year for a couple years now {we do it for Halloween too}. Sometimes we host friends or other family members and sometimes it's just us but it's a tradition we never skip. I can't wait for the baby to be old enough to join us. We always set it up like a little party even if it is just us. We love to drink Minute Maid's Pink Lemonade with cute straws as we decorate. We put our phones down and just talk and laugh the whole time.  It's the little things that make it special, that's the good stuff. 

Minute Maid's Pink Lemonade is my favorite drink of choice. Minute Maid Light has only 15 calories and is low sugar, making it a refreshing but better option, especially this time of year when sweets are aplenty. It's definitely not just a summer drink, though we love it then too. It comes in regular lemonade and pink lemonade. They're both delicious but I'm sure you know which once we reach for first in this house. How To Host Your Own Gingerbread House Party:

1. Paper Plates to Control the Mess: Set each gingerbread house on a large plate to help control the mess while decorating. When you're done, you can just toss them in the trash. I like to have paper cups out for the same reason, easy clean-up of drinks. Use festive paper straws for a fun touch too. All of your paper ware can be in colors that match your theme. I chose mint green and red paper ware with clear cups so you could see the pretty pink of the Minute Maid Pink Lemonade that so perfectly matched our chairs.

2. Have Refreshments: Minute Maid Light is a favorite for our Gingerbread parties. Minute Maid's  lemonade and pink lemonade are the perfect crowd pleasers. I like to have both available for guests to choose from.

3. Buy a Gingerbread House Kit: There's no need to DIY here. You can find great, affordable gingerbread house kits online. Just separate the ingredient onto plates and into bowls for a pretty display. I recommend making gingerbread houses in advance and letting them dry before letting the kids decorate. 

4. Toppings and Decorations: In addition to the toppings that come in the kit, it's fun to include some of your own toppings as options to jazz things up a little. Some ideas are cereals, peppermints, sprinkles, gumdrops, and marshmallows. Different colors of icing are great to have around too.
