Kentucky Derby Table Decorations

I'll admit it, I've never been to the Kentucky Derby or actually even celebrated it too much { except for that one time when American Pharoah was in it, that was exciting! } but I'm so inspired by the whole idea of it. Getting dressed up in pretty dresses and big hats sounds so fun to me! We do usually watch the Derby and I love planning an event around things like that, so here is my Florida girl's take on Kentucky Derby Table decorations.

I came across this Kate Spade table runner at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and had to have it. It seemed like the perfect fit for this theme and I can definitely re-use it again for other themes. I just love the colors in it. The plates are gorgeous and disposable from my friends at Sophistiplate. This new turquoise shade mixed with the gingham is an unexpected favorite combo of mine. I placed a red rose at each plate to tie in the theme of "The Run for the Roses" as they call it. The silver galvanized bucket filled with white hydrangeas is a pretty, simple centerpiece that doesn't compete with the table runner and totally reminds me of the south. I served none other than the Derby's signature Mint Julep drink of course. Here's a great Mint Julep Recipe if you're looking for one. The Kentucky Derby is May 4-5 this year if you are looking to tune in. Cheers!
