5 Things You Need to Throw an Epic Pool Party by The Celebration Stylist

It's summer!! Which means lots of pool parties! In South Florida, we have pool parties year round so I consider myself a bit of an expert. Pool parties are one of my favorite types of parties to throw because they're so simple and so much fun. There's minimal decor and planning involved and it's very inexpensive. With these 5 simple tips, you can throw your own epic pool party for all your friends.

5 Things You Need to Throw an Epic Pool Party

1. Pool Floats

Pool floats can serve as both a float and decor so this is a serious must have. There is a huge selection of pool floats available now in so many shapes and sizes. Some of my favorites are lips, flamingos, and donuts. It's nice to have a bunch of them floating around so people don't have to take turns. I also highly recommend having drink floats, they’re so perfect for a summer party. They fit cans, cups, or bottles and just float around the pool so you can always find your drink.

2.  Drinks

Just like any other party, you have to have drinks at a pool party. Dr Pepper is the perfect drink for a pool party on a hot, summer day. I just grabbed a 12 pack of Dr Pepper from Walmart and I was good to go. I popped in cute black and white striped straws for a little pizazz. Look for the new #PickYourPepper packaging that will be out on 6/15/18 at #Walmart with special designs for millennials by millennials, which would be so fun to have at a party. The individual designs will help your friends keep track of which drink is theirs.

3. Balloons

I know you wouldn’t normally think of balloons for a pool party but they look so cute floating in the pool or even a fun little balloon garland to make it extra festive. No need for helium, just blow them up and toss them in. Or create a balloon garland to hang somewhere. It's easy and your guests will be very impressed.

4. Camera

You gotta have a camera. Get an instant one for immediate gratification or even a waterproof one if you're feeling fancy. Your friends will love snapping selfies on their pool floats and it makes for great keepsakes from your party.

5. Shaded Lounge Area

Your friends will love having a place to lounge and beat the heat. I had my area well stocked with Dr Pepper so my guests could really enjoy a nice break by the pool. Keep the area shaded with a fun umbrella, close enough to the pool so they don't have to leave the party to take a break. Your sun loving friends can still easily move their lounge chairs into the sun to get a tan if they want. Don't forget your bluetooth speaker so you can play some tunes.

  2. Such a fun summer post!! Very in love with your balloon garland (checking that out next!). I first tried Dr. Pepper years ago at my first job -- the entire office was so obsessed with it! -- so it always holds a fond place in my heart. So cute with the cherry floaties!

  5. Can't go wrong with those combinations for a party. Seems like a ton of fun. Pool Floaties decorated like lips are a great touch.
